Well, Roseola, that is! Poor little guy had it last week. I probably would've been completely at a loss as to what it was, except for the fact that our little friend, Isaac, had it last week so I had just read all about it on his blog & was aware of the symptoms. It all started on Monday night with a low-grade fever, followed by a very restless night. He seemed much better in the morning, so we took him to school, where he did very well most of the day until about 4:30 or so, when they took his temp and he was up to 101.6.
So, Grandma Peggy and Grandpa Jay took turns watching him for us for the rest of the week. Each day went pretty much the same way. He would do fine throughout the day (except for not having much of an appetite), and then would spike a fever of ~102 in the evening. Grandma Peggy took him to the doctor on Friday, just to rule out ear infection, since no rash had appeared yet, but his ears were clear. That night, there was no fever, and he seemed to be his old self on Saturday.
That night, though, after running some errands and going to dinner, he finally developed the rash and spiked to 103.9. The poor thing had the chills and just kept whimpering as he tried to nurse and sleep. We managed to bring the fever down quite quickly with a Tylenol/Motrin one-two punch, and after that, he slept like a baby (hehe). And that was it! Sunday morning, the fever was gone, the rash was gone, and he was 100% himself. So weird!

Poor little guy! Isn't it just the strangest thing when there's a fever for no apparent reason? And then BAM! Roseola. I'm glad to think our blog helped in some way! And I'm so glad to hear that he's feeling better. Now on to the next childhood disease, right?
