Giggles

Last night, Billy was sitting on the couch, and he put his arm under a pillow and kept peeking his hand out at Timothy, who thought it was absolutely hilarious that the hand was coming out of nowhere. So cute!

Button, button, who's got the button?

Not Timothy, that's for sure! Ha!

About 2 weeks ago, Timothy discovered the on/off button on our TV. Ever since then, he's been standing there every chance he gets, turning it off and on, off and on, off an on (and so on, and so on...). So, last night, Billy put an end to it once and for all! He took the clear plastic box part of a package and used packing tape to tape it over the button. It worked perfectly, and the results were quite funny - at least to us!

Mommy and Daddy's New Toy!!

We got our Christmas gift from Billy's parents early this year - a new vacuum cleaner, which we desperately needed! We got a Dyson Ball, and we LOVE it! We bought it on Friday (yes, we braved the stores on Black Friday!) and have already put it to the test with a lot of wet pine needles from the Christmas tree. It just sucked them right up! Yay! Maybe Timothy won't be able to find quite as many little morsels to put in his mouth now. hehe

Fun and Busy Birthday!

We had a very nice day yesterday. Billy is refereeing basketball now, so he got up early to go do a ref thing. When he came home, Timothy and I gave him his cards (he got his gift early - a new baby Bjorn with lumbar support), and then we did some cleaning and picking up around the house. Timothy went down for a nap, and when he got up, we gave him some lunch and then walked over to the park where he got to go down a big slide and go in the baby swings for the first time! He seemed a bit unsure of the swing at first, but he ended up enjoying it. After the park, we went out to get our Christmas tree! We picked out a beautiful 7' tall Noble Fir, which we brought home and hosed off before going to dinner.

As I mentioned before, we went to sushi, which is one of Billy's and my favorites! We actually got to the restaurant a few minutes before it opened, so we drove around in the "Fabulous 40's" neighborhood for a while, looking at the gorgeous houses, many of which already had their Christmas decorations up! We headed back to the restaurant, and Timothy was asleep, so we carried him in in his carseat, placed him under the table, and proceeded to have a yummy, leisurely dinner with him asleep the entire time (unprecedented!).

After dinner we came home and set up our tree, which ended up being quite an undertaking. It"s quite heavy, and we had some trouble getting it to stand up straight in the stand, but my wonderful hubby eventually got it to work. I can't wait to trim it today and see Timothy's reaction to it! He hasn't been too interested in the plain tree, but I have a feeling that all the lights and shiny stuff will be an irresistible attraction (so stay tuned!).

All in all, I think Billy would say he had a fun birthday this year. :) Happy Birthday, Daddy! We love you!

Happy Birthday, Daddy!

Today is Billy's 32nd Birthday! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MY LOVE!!! We actually celebrated at my parents' house yesterday with a little cake and Timothy was absolutely mesmerized by the candle. Today, we're going to get some stuff done around the house, and then go out to dinner - sushi - always a special treat! We might go get our Christmas tree, too, if we have time. Oh, and Timothy got daddy a card and "wrote" on it himself! It went over very well. :)

Happy Thanksgiving!

Timothy had a very fun first Thanksgiving. On Thursday, we went to Grandma Peggy and Grandpa Jay's house. Aunt Susan was there, as were Aunt Annie & Uncle John and cousins Lacey and Lauren. Cousin Lauren broke her tibia two weeks ago, so she was sporting a very spiffy red long-leg cast, which Timothy was VERY interested in investigating. Cousin Lauren was a good sport and let him scratch and bang on it as much as he wanted, and I think Timothy really enjoyed the fact that Lauren was down on his level, as she can only get around by scooting these days. Cousin Lacey was also a great sport, letting Timothy pull himself up on her and investigate her face and hair. So cute!

Grandma Peggy's lovely table:

Cousin Lacey:

"Cool cast, cousin Lauren!"

Timothy's first taste of turkey (which he promptly spit out!):

On Friday we went to Grandma Niki and Abuelo Evaristo's house. Unfortunately, Auntie Monkie had to work, so we didn't get to play with her. Timothy had a great time playing with Abuelito and investigating Grandma's necklace, which luckily didn't break. He also got to have his own tiny slice of pumkin pie, which he did not spit out.

Yummy pumpkin pie:

And what am I thankful for, you might ask? My wonderful family, of course!

Rubber duckie, you're the one!

Teo usually takes showers in the morning with Billy before going to school, but lately we've been having a little tubby time, which he really seems to enjoy!

I just couldn't resist! :)

My Little Ham

He just loves to have his picture taken! He certainly did not inherit this trait from me (as you may have noticed, I am rarely featured in any photos here - or anywhere else, for that matter!)!

This is not the best picture of him, but it almost looks like his "poop face", so I had to include it!

Make sure you have the sound on for this video - you can actually hear his gums squeaking against his "teether"! heehee!

Quick Update

Little Peanut is now BIG BOY!! We saw the doctor yesterday for a follow-up to the horrible "failure to thrive" appointment, and my, how he's grown! He grew 1.5", which now puts him at 27" long, and he gained a whopping 2lbs. 5ozs., which puts him at 15lbs. 8.2ozs!!!! The doctor still wanted to re-test for any disorders, but we refused. This did not go over well. To make a long story short, we've changed pediatricians in hopes of finding someone who is less of a... well, let's just say less arrogant and leave it at that. hehe

Random cuteness

One of Teo's new favorite things to chew on these days is this little plastic "hay bale" or "burlap sack" that came in the Little People silo that Aunt Shirley gave us to bring home. He just loves it!

He also really loves making sounds when riding on daddy's knee - so cute! He's been experimenting with lots of different sounds these days, including a lovely high-pitched shriek and clicking his tongue. I love it all - seriously! I'll have to try to get a video with the tongue-clicking. Oh! And he waves hello and bye-bye now, too! Priceless!

First Carousel ride

So, last Sunday we went to the mall & Teo got to ride the merry-go-round for the first time. What did he think of it? Well, the look on his face says it all, no? Heehee! We'll have to try again in a few months.

8 - 4 - 2

Teo is eight months old today! I absolutely can't believe that 2/3 of a year have gone by since our little bundle of joy made his entrance into the world. I know it's a cliche, but it really is going so fast.

The fact that he's eight months old, however, is bittersweet and has brought up some emotions for me that I didn't know were brewing beneath the surface. The reason for this is, in large part I think, because it was exactly four months ago that I went back to work. He's been in daycare and I've been working for exactly half his life. I don't have a choice in the matter, so it's not like there are any decisions to be made. It just sucks. And that's all I have to say about that.

Now, for anyone who's wondering what the "2" in the title of the post is for... Teo now has two - yes, two! - little teeth! He's the cutest little jack-o-lantern on the block! :)

Teo the Turtle

Yes, as the title suggests, Teo was a turtle for Halloween - and what a cute turtle, indeed! Everyone at Forever Young absolutely loved his costume, but just look at him! How could you not love the little guy?! I also got to show him off at the office, as there was an invitation "Trick-or-Treat in the Executive Suite", so Teo the Turtle got to see and be seen by all the CDCR bigwigs. He, of course, was a hit!

Turtle cuteness:

We didn't really go trick-or-treating in the evening, but we did get out for a bit. We walked over to my coworker and neighbor, Barb's house for a little visit and it was really nice! Of course, Billy and Tom (Barb's husband) know a ton of people in common, since Barb and Tom's sons grew up playing baseball here in Sacramento. In fact, Billy was the Jesuit Freshman coach when both of them were playing for Christian Brothers, so they've crossed paths along the way.

Teo with Barb:

On our way back home (in the rain, with a borrowed umbrella!) we stopped by our next-door neighbor, Mary's house, so that she and her daughters & grandkids could check out the cool turtle action, too. We did leave a big bowl of candy on our doorstep when we went out, and it was (thankfully!) gone when we got home. I only wish we'd left all the candy out!

Check out the turtle moves!
